What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is essentially cardio, gymnastics and strength training rolled into one eclectic, efficient package. We perform pullups, pushups, handstands and box jumps.  We lift weights, swing kettlebells, climb ropes and throw medicine balls.  We run, row, jump rope and use gymnastics rings. We mix all of these elements together in challenging and creative ways so that you never get bored.

Our coaches are responsible for ensuring that your workout is not easy nor impossible, that your form and range of motion are correct, that your speed and intensity are appropriate, that the exercises and weights are adjusted to your fitness level, and that you have a plan for long-term success.

By committing to our program, you will learn new skills, improve your nutrition habits, get stronger, feel and look better and improve your quality of life.

Carbs = Insulin = Fat

Jenn = Low Carb = Low Insulin = Ripped

"Because the insulin level in the bloodstream is determined primarily by the carbohydrates that are consumed - their quantity and quality - it's those carbohydrates that ultimately determine how much fat we accumulate. Here's the chain of events:

  1. You think about eating a meal containing carbohydrates
  2. You begin secreting insulin
  3. The insulin signals the fat cells to shut down the release of fatty acids and take up more fatty acids from the circulation
  4. You start to get hungry, or hungrier
  5. You begin eating
  6. You secrete more insulin
  7. The carbohydrates are digested and enter the circulation as glucose, causing blood sugar to rise
  8. You secrete more insulin
  9. Fat from the diet is stored as triglycerides in the fat cells, as are some of the carbohydrates that are converted into fat in the liver
  10. The fat cells get fatter, and so do you
  11. The fat stays in the fat cells until the insulin level drops

Small testimonial to this fact about the Insulin & Tryglecerides...I started at Crossfit on Dec. 6 2010...my Tryglycerides were at 500...I had a physical on Jan. 4th, one month later and my tryglycerides were 212...i'll go back in April and see what they are but I am going to guess they are going to be right back where I was when I was 20 or so which is 100 where they are supposed to be!!!

My bad cholesterol also is getting better, and that was only after a month so i'll tip my chinese food container of goulash to Dennis & Mike, you guys rock!!!

I also thank the other support I get there from Ty, Mario, Jenn and all my partners in pain at Crossfit=).
